I closed the door on using colour in this art work as I wanted to expose the subject in a pure and raw form. Choosing grey and white to lessen the detail around the random and yet significant aspects of the artwork has crudely highlighted the other areas in a genuine expressive manner.
I find this art work to come across as a truthful, modest art piece that could be seen as cosmetically unappealing through its lack of colour and disparate composition but this is outweighed by being thought provoking and in that it provides us with a mirror to our soul by showing you your true character when presented with something that doesn't rely solely on its superficial appearance.

Yet again I find myself revelling in the bricks and mortar of the industrious landscape of which I seem to have a great affinity with. The letters GB appear faintly amid this art work and signify the words "Great Britain" and have an active part in bringing to life the warm earthy colours that fill this canvas print. Although at first glance these colours appear muted and prosaic I find that the longer I stare at the piece the more I become immersed within these delightful rich tones which radiate a soothing glow bringing about a comfortable calmness. Here we have a red, black, white and blue abstract canvas art print which is a simple and unobtrusive piece of artwork. Now onto describing the piece of abstract art work. How do I portray the reasons for taking this abstract photograph and what does it mean to me? 

Does it provoke a feeling or is it a preference to taking abstract formations in my favourable colours? I do know that I have an affinity and relish in taking photographs in areas that were once the heart of the industrial working class community and although these are now seen as unappealing areas that are in a state of decline I try and find an obscure way of showing its unadorned beauty. 

So on closer inspection I find myself contemplating that this is an abstract representation of the hidden charm of what once was the hub of the industrial working class society and thus brings out the alluring feelings I have towards restoring its existence into an eye catching piece of contemporary art.

I am always tempted to add a bit of colour to black and white art as my first impressions are that it lacks luster but with this artwork I found myself sidestepping the colour palette and seeing past that misconception. The overlapping heavy defacement that covers this artwork has many layers created by the youth of today that wish to establish acknowledgement from society,so rather than mask these proclamations with colour I left the rawness to shine through and create a simple yet compelling piece of art.

I could sit and watch for hours on how colours move and flow into one another, I get the same relaxing feeling when I sit and watch fish swimming around in a tank.
