A Visual Experiment - Surreal Poetry

 A Visual Experiment

The long shadow with only 3 toes entered the garden from the south
I shook my head and tiny silver sparkles fell out from under my chin
A low flying cloud drifted across the table covered in a red and white chequered table cloth
A warning sign flipped open from a briefcase being carried by a man in a grey suit that was two sizes too small for him
Balancing on the edge I peer over into the arena that was filled with the sound of impatient car horns
Now you see me
Now you don't

Now you see me
See me don't
You look a picture of health with the pink stripe running down your face
I can't control myself and wipe my grin onto the back of an old postcard I bought from a charity shop
The bus man arrives and picks up the lonely wooden leg wearing a backless red stiletto
You pick your words carefully and attach them to the lining of my dogtooth jacket
I turn to you with a grave mistake and my head flat lines
There is no trace left of you as you are nothing but a visual experiment
