Fragments of My Mind - Abstract Painting

Fragments of My Mind by Sam Freek

The size of this is abstract painting is 100 cm x 100 cm x depth 4 cm and it has been hand painted using acrylic paint in black, white, orange, various shades of blue, green, pink, black, grey, red and purple.

I chose acrylic paint simply because it dries fast and I have no patience and I wanted to create a flat almost print like surface so the combination of shapes alone would speak volumes for themselves.

The title 'Fragments of my Mind' came from the fact that each shape has popped into my brain to create this multi coloured artwork and so in effect they are portions of my creative thoughts. I wanted to create a sprightly piece that felt alive and full of energy so I used mainly bright colours that have been outlined in black which help create the look of layers and make each shape 'pop' out. A doodle and graffiti art feel arises as you gaze around this piece and each aspect appears to command its own authority over the artwork. This playful artwork draws you in and transports you around the art piece in and excited manner, as it entices you to want to become part of it.

In order to paint this piece I had to be in a good mood, so I never painted it on a morning as most of the time I am grumpy, ha ha. When I got over my grumpiness I couldn't wait to start painting this art work and most of the time I can always lift my spirits by listening to some Northern Soul music. This graffiti doodle style is something I enjoy painting and can't wait to start my next one.

This artwork can be shipped anywhere in the whole wide world and if you have any questions about this painting, or any of my canvas wall art pieces, art prints, or photography then please don't hesitate to contact me (Sam Freek) and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Art in Miniature - 10 Amazing Artists

I think miniature art is amazing and I would never have the patience to do it in a million years. As a child a relative bought me a model Airfix plane and I built it up and instead of waiting patiently for the glue to dry I thought I could speed the process up by placing it on top of a radiator, when I came back to check out my masterpiece it had turned into a plastic blob. I've not had a go at building anything that small since.

So here are 10 amazing artists who create some amazing miniature art/sculptures/diorama to feast your eye balls on.

James Pridham has a fascination with maritime communities and has created an amazing piece called "Safe Harbour" which took over 4,000 hours to build over 6 years.

Satoshi Araki creates highly realistic miniature models of towns, vehicles, and a lot of other objects from everyday life.

Willard Wigan MBE -  Each one of Wigan's micro sculptures commonly sit within the eye of a needle or on a pin head and are so minute that they are only visible through a microscope.

Marc Giai-Miniet creates miniature 'boxes,' which are made up of grim scenes inside grungy looking spaces where unknown events have taken place. These miniature scenes look like something out of a horror movie or a science fiction game.

Nic Joly - Sees his sculptures as pieces of theatre to get lost in, framed feelings, thoughts, imaginings, and observations. The video is in relation to one of my favourite pieces "Never Forgotten".
